On Saturday, July 01, 2017 at 9:00 am, families, friends and the Jesuit community trickled in at the St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Parish - Kangemi, Nairobi, to concelebrate the Eastern Africa Province (AOR) Priestly Ordination of Rev. Ekeno Augostine Edan, SJ, Rev. Omondi Benard Isiaho SJ, and Rev. Kamau Martin Waweru, SJ. The ordaining prelate was Rt. Rev. Rodrigo Mejia Saldariaga SJ, Titular Bishop of Vulturia and Vicar Apostolic Emeritus of Soddo (Ethiopia). The JESAM President Fr. Agbonkhianmeghe Orobator E. SJ, was also present.

'DUC IN ALTUM!' was the message of the Jesuits Eastern Africa Provincial Rev. Fr. Joseph Oduor Afulo SJ, on commissioning the newly ordained priests to the republic of South Sudan. He missioned them as pioneers of peace, justice and love; the new faces of Christ to the troubled nation and a people who have neither seen nor experienced peace for decades.

Fr. Provincial invited the vibrant choir of St. Joseph the Worker-Kangemi Parish to in-tone the song, 'Nitakwenda naye mwokozi, nipeleke Injili duniani kote,...wababa nao wanangoja, duniani kote...wamama nao wanangoja...! Quoting the Verse in Matthew 28, he issued the unexpected missionary appeal to send out the newly instructed ordinands to take the Gospel to the farthest ends of the world...to a people eagerly waiting for God's voice and thirsty for God's Word, through the Holy Sacrament of the Altar.

In his Homily the Ordaining Prelate reminded the newly ordained priests that wherever they go they are servants of God and the Church, that the work of a priest is that of a "Nabii" meaning teacher...teaching the word of God and ministering to the people of God in love. It is...a wholesome mission! It is not by their will, strength or might that they have become priests, but because God has called them, God has chosen them!

We pray for our dear brothers for God's protection and care as they take on the mission of Christ, which is service to humanity.
