Provinces and Regions

Today Jesuits are working in 30 Sub-Saharan African countries which are divided amongst 7 Provinces and 2 Regions. While there are Jesuit communities in North Africa these do not form part of JESAM. Find out where they are deployed by clicking here.

Composition of the different Provinces and Regions?

CENTRAL AFRICA: Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola
NORTH-WEST AFRICA: Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone
WEST AFRICA: Benin, Burkina-Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Guinea, Senegal, and Togo
EASTERN AFRICA: Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda
MADAGASCAR: Madagascar
ZAMBIA-MALAWI: Zambia and Malawi
ZIMBABWE-MOZAMBIQUE: Zimbabwe and Mozambique
RWANDA-BURUNDI REGION: Rwanda and Burundi – Independent Region
SOUTH AFRICA REGION: South Africa – Region dependent on Great Britain
